This week the 7th graders explored the concept of eco system. The first meeting introduced the terms used such as habitat, niche, community, and population. We discussed what species are present in a specific ecosystem. The students categorized the species into the respective niche and reviewed the types of interdependency found within species and the abiotic factors. The next meeting promised to be more challenging because the students will make a display to show different kinds of ecosystem. To make the display creative and attractive, they will try to create 3-dimensional displays.
Having a better understanding of the ecosystem and how all components are related will ensure a higher sense of responsibility and belonging amongst students, so they grow to be reliable and ecofriendly leaders. (Kartika Asril Darussamin).
